Right. That is all from this game. On Wednesday, 08th December 2021, we will have the first double-header of this season's BBL as the first game will be played between Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers at 6.35 pm local (7.35 am GMT) and the second game will be contested between Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat at 6.35 pm local (10.35 am GMT). Do join us then. Cheers!
Zahir Khan, is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH! He thanks god and says that today was his day and that the captain and Mohammad Nabi encouraged him on the field and he is happy for his performance. Mentions that the staff and the management are very supportive of all the young players in the team.
The Melbourne Renegades failed to grab a wicket early on even though they were not bowling all that badly. Once Zahir Khan entered into the wickets column, they started to build a case and kept things tight, as they also managed to keep taking regular wickets and the pressure kept mounting on the batters of Adelaide. They took the game right until the last over and James Pattinson kept his cool to help them win. Zahir Khan and Will Sutherland impressed with the ball and the Renegades will be happy to start with a win under their belt.
Matthew Short and Jake Weatherald started off pretty positively for the Strikers and they did their job of setting the base ready for the run chase with their 45-run stand, but from 45/0, they were at 50/2 and lost both their openers in succession. Jonathan Wells and Harry Nielsen did well to steady things slightly as they kept the scoreboard running but once Wells fell, they lost two more quickly and Ryan Gibson retired hurt too. The onus to take them over the line fell on Rashid and Drew and when they took the Power Surge, it looked like Rashid could take them home but he lost his wicket but the Strikers did manage to take this to the last over but could not cross the line.
What a game of cricket this has been and it is the Melbourne Renegades who have come out on top in this thriller and have won the game by 2 runs. They pocket three points, whereas, the Strikers get the Bash Boost point.

That's it, Melbourne Renegades have done it! James Pattinson holds his nerves and gets the yorker in on off stump. Daniel Drew makes a bit of room and looks to slog it on the leg side. The ball goes off the top edge and clears point. The fielder gives chase and keeps it down to two. MELBOURNE RENEGADES WIN BY 2 RUNS!

Nicely bowled slower ball. On a length, well outside off. Daniel Drew doesn't manage to get to it and it's a dot ball.

OUT! CAUGHT! James Pattinson gets a big breakthrough and could that be the game for Melbourne Renegades? Wes Agar gives himself too much room and Pattinson is smart to push it full and wide. Agar chases after it and looks to go over covers. He ends up skying it high off the toe end and towards covers. Mohammad Nabi takes a simple catch. 9 needed off 4 balls

Full and quick, on leg stump. Agar manages to defend it back to the bowler.

FOUR! Just wide of the fielder and goes into the boundary. Another twist in the tale. Very full, on off. Drew chips it down the ground and the ball goes agonizingly past the diving mid off fielder for a boundary. 9 needed off 6 balls.

A low full toss, at the pads. Agar eases it down to long on for one.

OUT! Chopped on! Kane Richardson has the last laugh! Richardson slows it up and bowls a length ball, around the off pole. Daniel Worrall gives himself a lot of room and looks to slap it through covers. Worrall gets undone by the lack of pace and gets an inside edge. The ball chops back onto the off stump. 14 needed now off 8 balls.
