Right then, that is it from the game. The Bangladesh Premier League, 2024/25 continues as we have two games lined up on Tuesday, the 31st of December. It will be between the Khulna Tigers and the Chittagong Kings at 11.30 am IST (6 am GMT) and Sylhet Strikers versus the Rangpur Riders at 4.30 pm IST (11 am GMT). Do join us for the early build-up as well. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Nurul Hasan the skipper of Rangpur Riders says the wicket was doing good and though they lost a few wickets but everybody chipped in well down the order. Mentions that Rana and Mahedi Hasan bowled well and executed as per plans. Closes by saying a win to start the tournament will give the side a lot of confidence going ahead.
Khushdil Shah IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH. Shah says he just stuck to the plan forwarded to him by the management and playing with Iftikhar Ahmed helped him a lot in the middle. Mentions that he was looking to back his natural instinct post 8-10 balls and it fell well for him.
Thisara Perera the skipper of Dhaka Capitals says there are a lot of positives despite the defeat and they'll take that ahead from this contest. Mentions it is better to have such a game at the beginning of the tournament and they'll take some rest and unite again for the remaining games. Closes by saying they will be giving their best going ahead as the most important thing is a victory for the team.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the game, the Rangpur Riders scored 191 after being put to bat first. The Riders struggled initially, losing both openers quickly to Alauddin Babu and Mustafizur Rahman, slipping to 20/2 early on. However, Iftikhar Ahmed and Saif Hassan stabilized the innings with a solid 89-run partnership for the third wicket. After Saif's dismissal, quick contributions from Nurul Hasan and Khushdil Shah helped elevate the score. While Babu took 3 wickets, he also conceded a fair amount of runs, while Mukidul Islam chipped in with two and was economical.
From a comfortable 65 for 1, they plummeted to 75 for 4 in the blink of an eye! The mastermind behind this collapse was Mahedi Hasan who picked up all four wickets! Thisara Perera tried to inject some urgency into the innings, but his cameo ended swiftly, leaving the Capitals scrambling to chase the climbing required rate. The wickets later continued to tumble and there was no turning back for the Dhaka Capitals.
The Rangpur Riders have clinched a convincing victory over the Dhaka Capitals by 40 runs. The Capitals started with a bang, as opening duo Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das blazed their way to a solid partnership of 65 runs. However, the turning point came when Tanzid fell, and the Capitals suddenly found themselves in a dramatic freefall.
