Right then, that's all from this game. It is Dindigul who have come out on top this evening and they are now one step closer to the Playoffs. The action in the 2023 Tamil Nadu T20 League continues on Thursday, 29th of June where Madurai will take on Trichy. The first ball will be bowled at 7.15 pm IST (1.45 pm GMT). As always, you can join us early for the build-up. Until then, take care and goodbye!
Shivam Singh S is the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock of 74 runs from 57 balls.
Earlier in the game, after Dindigul won the toss and opted to bowl first, Tiruppur were off to a swift start in the Powerplay thanks to Tushar Raheja who was quick to get off the blocks. In the middle overs, solid contributions from Sai Kishore and Vijay Shankar put Tiruppur in a strong position. Towards the end, quickfire cameos from B Anirudh Sita Ram and Rajendran Vivek helped Tiruppur finish on a high. For Dindigul, Subodh Bhati was wicketless but was their most economical bowler on the night.
As far as Tiruppur are concerned, they will be certainly disappointed with this bowling effort. Having finished well with the bat, they were unable to start well with the ball, conceding 34 runs in the first four overs. Sai Kishore did pull things back with twin blows on either side of the Powerplay for Tiruppur. Having reduced Dindigul to 69-2, Tirppur would have fancied their chances of defending the total. However, no support for Sai Kishore from the other end meant Tiruppur were unable to mount pressure on the opposition batters. They kept leaking boundaries every now and then and in the end, ended up on the losing side. Despite this loss, Tiruppur are still in contention for a place in the playoffs and would need to pull up their socks.
Dindigul return to winning ways and that too, in a very convincing fashion! In their pursuit of 174, Dindigul were off to the best possible start, scoring 18 runs in the very first over. Shivam Singh S was the aggressor among the two Dindigul openers and kept the scoreboard ticking for his side. Vimal Khumar and Boopathi Kumar did get off to start but were unable to convert into something substantial. That said, Shivam found an able alley in the form of Adithya Ganesh who was brought in as the Impact Player. Both batters notched their respective fifties and forged an unbeaten 105-run stand to ensure there were no more hiccups in the chase.
