The winning skipper of Sylhet Strikers, Mohammad Mithun says he is happy that they performed as a team. Adds that the confidence of the side is good despite the defeats they have been dealt with. Credits Ariful Haque for his brilliant cameo at the end and adds that he and Samit Patel played brilliantly and they aimed around 130-140 in the first break and were happy to achieve that. Mentions that the bowlers did well and everybody was upto the task assigned to them. Closes by saying that they had a chance to win in most matches but lost their way and such stuff happens in cricket.
Richard Ngarava is the POTM for his scintillating performance. He says that they had discussed that they should take early wickets. He adds that he tried to trust him and bowl the right deliveries. Mentions that he is happy for this win.
The losing skipper of Durdanto Dhaka, Mosaddek Hossain says he bowled really well, especially Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam, and this was a chasebale total but they did not bat well. Syas that things were in their hold for the first 20 overs but they lost their way while chasing this down. Adds they need to build up a winning momentum and would work on that.
The Presentation ceremony…
Earlier in the day after being asked to bat first, Sylhet Strikers started poorly and lost 3 inside the first 4 overs. The horror show continued for Najmul Hossain Shanto and his top order. A make-shift 1 down in Samit Patel then batted well along with skipper Mohammad Mithun and crucial runs for the fourth wicket partnership. The side did close their innings well with the bat too as they managed to post 142 on board. Ariful Haque and SM Meherob played good knocks of 21 and 39 respectively but Mohammad Mithun was the pick of the lot with 59 to his name. Shoriful Islam was unplayable for the Sylhet Strikers batters and he picked up 4 while Arafat Sunny took a couple. Taskin Ahmed and Usman Qadir chipped in with a wicket each too.
Durdanto Dhaka have a lot to discuss about their poor batting performance. They failed to build good partnerships and the wickets fell like nine pins. None of the top-order batters could stabilize the innings and that created pressure on the other batters. Irfan Sukkur tried a poor shot and that led to his dismissal. There was a lot of miscommunication between the batters as well and that led to the run out of Saif Hassan. They failed to rotate the strike often which allowed the bowlers to bowl the dot balls. It was a poor batting performance by them today apart from the heroics of Taskin Ahmed towards the end which was the only positive in the batting unit.
Sylhet Strikers have finally ended their losing streak and gained momentum with a win in this one. They started off well with Richard Ngarava giving them the first two important breakthroughs. They sent back the openers and put pressure on the opposition. They were brilliant in the field as well and tried to grab every tough chance they got. Rejaur Rahman got Alex Ross to walk back to the pavilion and then Irfan Sukkur was dismissed by Nayeem Hasan. Benny Howell trapped Mosaddek Hossain in front of the stumps and that almost sealed the game for them. Richard Ngarava got two more in his third over and brought up his tally to four wickets. They couldn't bowl them out but they must be proud of their bowling performance.
