Sachin Tendulkar, the skipper of India Legends is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH and says he is glad to play some cricket after so many days. Adds the crowd has been fantastic. Mentions it's his first match here and goes on to thank the crowd. Reckons the Man of the Match award should be given to Rajesh Pawar. On his batting, he feels it came off well. Shares that they have to be aggressive and every player has a role. Tells the most crucial role today was played by Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh. On the bowling front, feels Rajesh Pawar's bowling was really special. Adds they will play good cricket in the next game as well and hopes not to let down the fans.
England Legends captain, Ian Bell says it was amazing batting from India Legends. Adds he has seen Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh bat well in past as well. They are top players of this game. Reckons it was raining but they wanted to play cricket and the tournament is going well so far. On the last game, he says it will be a big game against Australia and is looking forward to it.
The Presentation ceremony...
Earlier in the game, Ian Bell won the toss and put India Legends into bat which backfired as Sachin Tendulkar and Naman Ojha set the Powerplay ablaze. The Indians were able to do well throughout their batting order as Yusuf Pathan and Yuvraj Singh too played quickfire cameos and got them to a mammoth total of 170 in just 15 overs. Stephen Parry was the pick of the bowlers for England Legends but all the others received a bit of stick. With their work cut out in front of them, England Legends did get off to a decent start in the Powerplay with the bat but kept on losing wickets and the Indian spinners were able to control the game in the middle phase. In the end, it was a comprehensive win for the Indians.
England Legends have struggled throughout the tournament and haven't had luck on their side either. But in this game, they were outplayed by the Indians. In a match that was affected by rain, England Legends had the opportunity to make use of the early conditions but failed to do so. The batting was under pressure as a lot of runs were needed and even though a few batters, especially Phil Mustard played well, wickets kept on tumbling and the tailenders had just a bit too much to do. Chris Schofield and Chris Tremlett got a few big hits towards the end though.
India Legends knew they just needed to bowl decently enough to defend such a big score but their spinners bowled exceptionally well. Rajesh Pawar got the first breakthrough and after that Pragyan Ojha too got the big wicket of Ian Bell. After that, India Legends were well in control and Pawar came back in to pick up a couple of more wickets. Their pacers weren't as effective but did their job and it was more than enough.
India Legends have rounded up a fine showing with both bat and ball with a big win here and they go on top of the standings on net run rate. They had the runs on board and then backed it up with a strong bowling display as well.
