Right then! That is all we have from the second semi-final. It now comes down to the GRAND FINALE of the Women's World Cup 2022. The final of this tournament with take place on Sunday, 3rd April 2022, between the six-time world champions, Australia Women, and the defending champions, England Women. The match is set to begin at 6:30 am IST (1:00 am GMT). But as you all know our build-up will begin in advance. So do join us then. Till then, take care and goodbye!
Heather Knight, the skipper of England Women says it was a complete performance and they were playing knockout from the last four games. Danni Wyatt and Sophia Dunkley played brilliantly in the middle and decided well, which ball to hit. On Sophie Ecclestone and Charlotte Dean, she says that they have bowled in tandem and did really well and it just gives them good momentum going into the final. She feels they are the underdogs but they are ready for the match and will be pushing themselves to play the finals.
Sune Luus the skipper of South Africa Women, says they did not have a good day on the field but she credits England and says that they were better. Adds they have to be clinical and she feels they had a great campaign in crunch moments. Concludes by saying that it was a big honour to play a World Cup and it was an amazing campaign for South Africa, and she is sure that people will be proud of them when they get back home.
Danni Wyatt is the Player of the Match. She is very happy and she feels it was a complete performance. Adds that Sophia Dunkley has a calm head and it was a great partnership and was much needed as well. She dedicates this win to the team as everyone deserves it.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Not the ideal way South Africa Women would have liked to end their tournament, but it's been a disappointing game for them. After losing their openers quickly, Lara Goodall and Sune Luus tried to steady the ship and put a decent partnership together, but they could not go on till the end, and they perished soon. Mignon du Preez tried her best to score runs, but she had no support from the other end. It was never going to be easy chasing a target of 294 against a strong bowling attack. But all in all, this has not been their best performance, but they can still be proud of the way they have played in this entire tournament. They were one of the best teams in the league stage, unfortunately, they could not make it to the finals.
After a sensational batting performance, England Women have put on an even better show with the ball. They were right on cue from the word go. Anya Shrubsole began the proceedings by grabbing the first two wickets, Kate Cross followed up soon by grabbing the wicket of Sune Luus. Once, Sophie Ecclestone was into the attack, South Africa Women tumbled like a pack of cards. She picked up 6 wickets and demolished their batting line-up. She also picked up her first-ever five-wicket haul in ODI's and registered the best bowling figure of this tournament. They have put up a scintillating performance today and now they will be up against Australia Women in the final of this exuberant tournament.
The defending champions, England Women make their way into yet another World Cup final. What a turnaround this has been from them! After losing their first three games, they have fought back well and never gave up hope, and have entered the finals. It's been a clinical performance from them. Heartbreak for South Africa Women though, they have had an exceptional tournament but failed to get over the line in another semi-final.
