Imran Tahir, the Guyana Amazon Warriors skipper says that it was a great game and everyone enjoyed it. Adds that they showed their character. Shares that they are aware of Romario Shepherd's capability to hit the ball and they have batting till number 9. Ends by thanking the Guyana fans who have been amazing.
Chris Green, the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons skipper is up for a chat. Shares that, unfortunately, the games went down to the last ball and they lost both. Adds that they can learn so many things from these games. Mentions that he is proud of the team and adds that Mohammad Amir is one of the best bowlers in the world. Shares that they were 10-15 runs short with the bat but the bowlers did a commendable job. Ends by adding that they have 8 more games to go and they will try to go well.
Gudakesh Motie is the Player of the Match for his fine bowling spell. he shares that his hard work has started to pay off and he is getting success now. Adds that it was a team decision for him to open the batting as he can strike well. Shares that he is working hard at the moment and wants to take it one game at a time. Ends by sharing that he got nervous on the final ball of the match but they sailed through.
Earlier in the day, the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons were asked to bat first and they posted 168 for 6. They started well and had strong performances from Fakhar Zaman and Kofi James for the second wicket. However, Gudakesh Motie’s impressive bowling spell led to a middle-order collapse, leaving the Falcons struggling at 114 for 5 in the 15th over. Imad Wasim's quickfire knock of 40 towards the end helped them reach a par total of 168 runs. Guyana Amazon Warriors will be happier side to bag two points in their kitty and start the season on a winning note.
Antigua & Barbuda Falcons will count themselves unlucky. For two games in a row, they have lost on the final ball and will be disheartened to start their campaign with two losses in a row. They did most things right but failed to clinch the crunch moments in the game. Chris Green, Imad Wasim, and Shamar Springer chipped in with two each while Fabian Allen got the solitary wicket. With 16 needed off the final over, Mohammad Amir failed to defend the score and that didn't help the cause of the Falcons. The Falcons will hope to bounce back soon enough before it gets too late for them.
Phew! What a humdinger we've witnessed! Two days in the season and two close finishes at the CPL. The Guyana Amazon Warriors snatched a win from the jaws of defeat and got home by three wickets on the final ball of the game. Chasing a competitive score of 169 for the win, the Warriors got off to a decent start but kept losing wickets at regular intervals and the required rate kept creeping up. Shai Hope anchored the innings with 41 but lost his wicket at the wrong time. The equation was 47 needed off 20 balls when Hope got out and Romario Shepherd took on the mantle from thereon. He smashed 32 off just 16 and took the game deep while Dwaine Pretorius kept his calm and made a quickfire 10-ball 20 not out to take his side home,
