Saqib Mahmood

Right then! That is it from this one-sided affair. Monday, 20th December sees Perth Scorchers take on Hobart Hurricanes at 4:15 pm Local (8:15 am GMT). Do join us for the same. Till then, Cheers!
Saqib Mahmood is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH! He says that he couldn't have asked for a better BBL debut. Says that the plan was to hit the hard lengths and is glad that it worked out. Adds that his knowledge about the English batters in Brisbane Heat helped him deliver.
... The Presentation ...
Saqib Mahmood started his BBL journey with a brilliant spell as the Heat were 5 down inside three overs with Mahmood taking 4 wickets. The match was already won for them but they were made to wait a bit. Tanveer Sangha came back into the attack and finished the deed towards the end. A fantastic display from them and Chris Green will be very proud of it. They needed this win after losing their last two matches and would look to build further. As far Brisbane Heat, they are struggling at the second-last spot and need to turn things around quickly now.
In a blink of an eye, half of the Brisbane Heat team was back in the hut. Tom Cooper, who was brought in as the X-factor player proved his worth did well to hit a few lusty blows and bring back Heat on track. But he too perished and things started fading until the partnership of Xavier Bartlett and Mark Steketee. Boy, they made the Thunder work. It was a good stand between them but the target was too big. Had someone from the top order played a better knock, things could have been different.
Sydney Thunder were made to wait but they have grabbed all three points. A disappointing effort from Brisbane Heat as their batters were nowhere seen today. We did see a brilliant recovery thanks to Xavier Bartlett and Mark Steketee but it was too little and too late for them.

FOUR! Full and on off. Mitchell Swepson drives it nicely past covers for one.
Mitchell Swepson walks out. This is one of the problems with the concept of the Bash Boost. Make no mistake, this has been a phenomenal fightback by the Brisbane Heat. But they will rue the way they went too hard at the top, in trying to chase the bonus point and lost a flurry of wickets. Just imagine - if they had just planned to win the game, rather than try to win the game with a bonus point, they could have been in with a good chance to be victorious. Just too much risk for a solitary point, one feels. But that is what a dangling carrot does to you.
