Man of the Match
Jemimah Rodrigues
Commentry
With this convincing win, India Women has sealed the series with one game to spare. The final match of the series is scheduled to take place on January 15th, Wednesday, at 11 am IST (5:30 am GMT). Fans can join in an hour early for the pre-match buildup. Until then, it's cheers to India on their series win!
Is there any doubt about who the player of the match will be? Well, we guess not as it is going to be the centurion Jemimah Rodrigues.
Jemimah Rodrigues is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for her blistering maiden ODI hundred. She gets the trophy and is up for a quick chat. Begins by saying that she is relieved with the hundred. Adds that she has scored a lot of runs including centuries and double century domestic cricket, and was a bit frustrated to not translate that at the international level. Says that batting at number 5 usually has different roles. Sometimes you get a few overs to bat as well so you need to adapt to that situation. On batting with Harleen Deol, she says that they had a chat that they needed to keep batting till the 40th over and when she was taking her own time, Harleen took charge. Ends by saying that they have played a lot of cricket together if not batting but that really helped that partnership to grow.
The skipper of India Women, Smriti Mandhana says that playing with Pratika Rawal is fun as she keeps the scoreboard ticking and in the three 100-run partnerships between them the ability to keep the scoreboard ticking has helped the most. Mentions that they know that this is the World Cup year and they are planning as per that. Says that the bowling unit is inexperienced but everyone has played a lot in the domestic circuit and they are executing well on the International circuit as well.
The skipper of Ireland Women, Gaby Lewis says there are a lot of positives even from this contest. She says they put on a total which was more than the previous game so they will take that positive. Mentions that the talent they have is something they will look to work on. Also says that different players stepped up in different games just shows the growing experience in the side. She appreciates Christina Coulter Reilly that she showed fearlessness. Adds that the coaching staff has done well in the past years and the pool of players they have here is a result of that. Closes by saying they know that the results will fall their way if they continue to trust the process.
... THE PRESENTATION CEREMONY ...
Harleen Deol is up for a quick chat. She says that she is really happy with her knock. Adds that she would have loved to complete her hundred but is delighted to contribute to the side. On getting out, she says that she was thinking of increasing the team's total and says that she just had to hit. Adds that she didn't get much elevation on that and got out. Also says that it is fun to bat with Jemimah Rodrigues. Further tells that they were constantly having words with each other and just tried to spend more time on the crease. Adds once they were settled in, runs came in at a good pace. Ends by saying they just backed their strengths.
Batting first, India Women posted a massive total of 370 runs, thanks to brilliant performances from their batters. Jemimah Rodrigues led the charge with a century, while Harleen Deol, Pratika Rawal, and Smriti Mandhana all contributed with half-centuries. The Irish bowlers struggled to contain the Indian batters, with Orla Prendergast and Arlene Kelly taking two wickets each, and Georgina Dempsey claiming one.
Despite having a huge total to defend, the Indian bowlers showed great restraint and did not leak runs, ensuring that Ireland Women never really got close to the target. Overall, it was a professional performance from the Indian team, and they will be pleased with the way they closed out the match. Deepti Sharma took three wickets in her 100th ODI game, while Priya Mishra took a couple as well. Titas Sadhu and Sayali Satghare took one each as well.
Chasing down an astronomic total the Ireland Women batting unit batted well but chasing 370 did not look an intention throughout their batting. What the side did though was to bat out the full quota of 50 overs and see where they end up taking this as a learning curve. Christina Coulter Reilly was their best batter as she smashed 80 while Sarah Forbes and Laura Delany batted solidly as well. Arlene Kelly landed a few big hits and she showcased her talent with the power-hitting she has in her.
India Women have defeated Ireland Women by 116 runs and have wrapped up the 3-match ODI series with a game to spare, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead.

DROPPED! A good effort though from Priya Mishra! Too full outside off, Leah Paul shuffles across off and tries to ramp it up but doesn't get enough on it. It sails over Priya Mishra who leaps in the air with her left hand stretched over her hand. She gets some part of her fingertips on it and deflects behind her. A single taken.

FOUR BYES! That beats everyone! A fiery yorker on the leg stump line, Georgina Dempsey is late to bring her bat to jam it and it goes very close to the leg stump and even beats Richa Ghosh behind the wickets. Races away to the fence. 250 comes up for Ireland!
