It’s all even-stevens in this thrilling T20I series between India Women and West Indies Women after two entertaining matches that went either ways. After India dominated the series opener, West Indies bounced back with an impressive victory in the second game, setting up an enticing winner-takes-all clash. The hosts have been grappling with the absence of regular captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who missed the previous match due to injury. Her availability for the decider remains uncertain. While Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh showed promising form with the bat in the last game, the rest of India's batting lineup struggled to make an impact. The bowling department's lackluster performance was particularly concerning, as they failed to contain the West Indies batters effectively. Smriti Mandhana in particular has led from the front and has notched up back-to-back fifties to her name, and she also happens to be the only player across both sides to have crossed the triple figures in the series. While Jemimah Rodrigues has provided valuable support, the team needs more players to rise to the occasion. The management has experimented with the lineup, giving opportunities to newcomers Uma Chetry as opener and introducing Raghvi Bist to international cricket. However, India's bowling has emerged as a significant concern, delivering underwhelming performances in both matches. Though Titas Sadhu and Radha Yadav have shown promise, Renuka Singh Thakur and Saima Thakor are still finding their rhythm. The team is also looking for seasoned all-rounder Deepti Sharma to make a bigger impact in the series. The West Indies camp draws confidence from their recent victory, powered by a stellar all-round display from Hayley Matthews. She excelled first with her bowling and then produced an explosive batting performance, finding excellent support from opening partner Qiana Joseph and later Shemaine Campbelle. However, despite securing the win, the Caribbean side has room for improvement. Their fielding performance remains a particular concern, having dropped four catches in the previous match, an area they'll be eager to address and make amends. The bowling attack remains largely dependent on Matthews and Dottin and the others need to gear up to support the two stalwarts. Though Chinelle Henry and Afy Fletcher have displayed flashes of good performances, they would be keen to keep up with the consistency. Will West Indies Women take the series, or can hosts India Women mount a comeback? It’s going to be a humdinger of a contest, folks!
