Commentry
That's all we have from this game. This series is done and dusted in favour of New Zealand but there is still one game to go. Do join us on Friday, 15th July 2022, for the third ODI in Dublin. The match will begin at 3.15 pm IST (9.45 am GMT) but you can join us in advance for the build-up. Until then, it's goodbye and cheers!
Tom Latham, the skipper of New Zealand, says that he is happy with the performance and feels that winning the toss was important. Praises his bowlers for providing such a fantastic start and getting a couple of early wickets to set the tone. Also adds that the spinners were brilliant. He admits that it was a shaky start from their batters but they gradually got the grip of the game and managed to build some partnerships which ultimately helped them to get over the finish line. Tells that the way Finn Allen played was a big positive and Michael Bracewell once again showed his composure to finish things off. Hopes that he continues his good form.
The Irish skipper, Andy Balbirnie says that the pitch was tricky with the ball nipping around and then turning as well. Adds that they did well afterwards but it wasn't enough. Mentions they bowled well but will look to improve as well. Adds that George Dockrell batted beautifully and can hit the ball really well and Andy McBrine was also solid at the top. Tells that they could be better in the field and there were some positives for them but they have to improve.
Michael Bracewell is picked for the Player of the Match award. 10-1-26-2 with the ball and an unbeaten 42 runs with the bat - It was an incredible all-round show by him. He says that the bowlers did an excellent job at the start and bowling three maidens set the tone for the game. Praises Jacob Duffy for his debut. Shares that the pitch was offering spin and they used the conditions well. He is happy with the way they restricted Ireland to a low score. He sounds satisfied to take New Zealand over the line.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Earlier in the match, Tom Latham won a crucial toss and decided to bowl under overcast conditions. The Irish batters found it tough to deal with the seaming deliveries and soon were found struggling. It was George Dockrell's knock and the late cameo from Mark Adair that handed them runs on the board to fight with, but 216 was never going to be enough against a team like New Zealand. In hindsight, the 12 balls that Ireland wasted could have made the difference.
It was a shocking start for New Zealand as they lost two wickets off the first two balls of the chase. Mark Adair was exceptional in his first few overs and pegged the Kiwis back fairly early. The going was tough, but Finn Allen and Tom Latham applied themselves to soak all the pressure. The former cut loose after that to steal the momentum in New Zealand's favour. This pair put together a century stand to corner the Irish team. Latham dropped into the role of the anchor and the likes of Henry Nicholls and Glenn Phillips also added vital runs.
Slight hiccup for the Black Caps, but eventually, they ended up securing an unassailable lead in the series, along with the crucial Super League points. Michael Bracewell once again played a mature knock and made sure that New Zealand cross the line.

SIX! BANG! Michael Bracewell finishes things off in style! Simi Singh angles it into the pads, Bracewell dances down the track and gives himself a bit of room before lifting it over the long on fence for a maximum. New Zealand win by 3 wickets!

On a good length, angling into the body. Bracewell shuffles a bit and works it towards mid-wicket for one.

FIVE WIDES! A wild delivery from Little, a gift really. Little tries to bowl a yorker at the toes but the ball slips out of his hands and end up being a high full toss, way down the leg side. The ball eludes the batter and the diving keeper to race away into the fine leg fence. New Zealand are a hit away now from victory!

APPEAL! Not given. Josh Little goes fuller and angles it in from around off. Michael Bracewell shuffles across looks to punch it back past the bowler but misses and the ball flicks the pads on its way to the keeper. Huge appeal from the bowler but it is turned down! Not sure whether they are claiming a catch or going up for lbw but it is being checked. UltraEdge is checked first and there is a flat line as the ball passes the bat and the Ball Tracking shows that the impact is well outside off.

Back of a length and on off, Michael Bracewell defends it off the back foot.

On a fullish length and pushed a bit wider, Henry looks to drive but gets a thick outside edge that flies through the vacant backward point region. They get a single.

This is full and wide, Matt Henry looks to take it down but misses the ball completely.

Back of a length and around off, Henry rocks back and has a tentative push at it past the man at point for a couple of runs.
