Right then, Jamaica Tallawahs have booked a place in the final and will now lock horns against Barbados Royals in the grand finale of this 10th edition of the Caribbean Premier League. The final will be played on Friday, the 30th of September and it will start at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, the previous day). Do join us for the build-up of that grand final. Till then, it's goodbye and cheers from our side.
Shimron Hetmyer, the skipper of Guyana Amazon Warriors says that the only thing we could have done is to take those chances. Says that toss didn't bother much and adds that boys did well at start but it's all about taking the chances. Further says that after being bottom of the table and then doing well to reach the Playoffs is commendable. Says that the support they got was fantastic.
Rovman Powell, the skipper of Jamaica Tallawahs says that it is an amazing feeling. Adds that the credit goes to all the 16 guys who contributed whenever they needed someone to step up when things didn't go their way. Mentions that he tries to lead from the front and says when the senior players rally around you, the junior player tends to follow. Tells that he has seen Gayle and Russell score a century but the hundred from Brooks is probably the best innings he has seen in T20 cricket. Ends by saying that the mindset is to stick to their strengths and execute their plans like they did in this game and adds that the guys are up for it to challenge the best side this season in the final.
Shamarh Brooks is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. He says that he enjoys playing for this franchise. He further says that it was a good knock still a lot to come in future. Adds that they are excited for the final. Mentions that along with him many other players performed well with the bat as well as with ball and adds that it was a complete team work.
Time for the Presentation...
Earlier in the game, Jamaica Tallawahs were absolutely dominating with the bat and it was Shamarh Brooks who stroked a marvellous century to take his team to a mammoth total. Jamaica Tallawahs scored 103 runs in the final five overs with Imad Wasim giving good company to Brooks. That score eventually turned out to be too much for Guyana Amazon Warriors and they have missed out on a golden opportunity to play a final in front of their home crowd. Have to say, their poor fielding and some off-target bowling in the death overs cost them this game here.
Jamaica Tallawahs bowlers had a luxury of a good total under their belt and they managed to take three wickets in the Powerplay as well to take a pole position in this game. Amir was superb at the start and got a big wicket of Paul Stirling but unfortunately walked off the field with an injury in his second over. However, that did not let their spirits down as spinners bowled brilliantly with Imad Wasim again being the pick of the bowlers. They were better in the fielding department as well compared to their opponents and that proved to be a decisive factor in the end.
Guyana Amazon Warriors were left with a daunting task with the bat after their dismal performance with the ball in the second half. They came out with positive intent with the bat but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. After Stirling departed early, Gurbaz and Hope both played some good shots but could not carry on. Paul though scored a good fifty but they needed someone to play a blinder at other end too with the required run rate constantly climbing up. However, that was not the case and Guyana Amazon Warriors fell well and truly short by 37 runs in the end.
Jamaica Tallawahs storm into the final of the CPL 2022! They were spot on with their plans and execution both with the bat and ball and now inch closer to that ultimate glory. They look absolutely ecstatic while the home team and their fans are devastated. These are the contrasting emotions you get to see on the cricket field but in the end, the team that played better cricket won this game.
