Presentations coming up...
Akif Javed is in for a quick chat. He says that Amir and Wasim Akram said to him to just do the basics right. Adds that he saw the first innings and tried to hit hard lengths which helped him. Mentions that the crowd in Karachi is brilliant and they want to keep winning for them. Ends by saying that the coach said to forget the losses and take one game at a time.
Earlier in the game, Karachi Kings got off to a flier and ran a havoc over the Lahore Qalandars bowlers. James Vince fell shy of four runs for his half-century but was brilliant with the bat. Later, their skipper Imad Wasim scored a quickfire 35 and helped the team reach to a mammoth total of 185 runs. Sikandar Raza was the only economical bowler for the Lahore Qalandars, but he remained wicketless.
Lahore Qalandars tried hard at the start but lost a wicket in the fifth over. Once the opening stand was broken, the wickets kept on tumbling for them. Mirza Tahir Baig looked good and was the only batter playing well but lost his wicket in the 13th over after scoring 45 runs. In the end, no other batters could get going and they fell like ninepins and fell short by 67 runs. They need to go back to the drawing board and comeback stronger in the next game.
Karachi Kings were excellent with the ball and they kept on picking wickets at regular intervals. They never let the Lahore Qalandars settle and kept them under pressure. Akif Javed was the pick of the bowlers as he bagged four wickets for his team. Aamer Yamin and Ben Cutting chipped two whilst Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim had one in their kitty.
Well, that was a convincing victory for the Karachi Kings. It was a brilliant performance overall from them and they have bounced back well after three losses in a row. They will look to claw their way up slowly and win their remaining games now.
