Moeen Ali, the captain of Morrisville Samp Army, says that they had a bit of a wobble but they bounced back strongly in this match. Calls his bowlers outstanding and adds that they did a superb job. Mentions that they have a chance to go the distance and will look to stick to the basics.
Johnson Charles takes home the Player of the Match award for his fine knock. The West Indian starts by admitting that he was not at his best but he got good support at the start from Karim Janat and later on from David Miller. Tells that it was a good wicket and the ball was coming on really nicely. Shares that keeping a strong base has helped his batting a lot.
Stay tuned for the presentation...
Odean Smith had a good all-round game but unfortunately, his team ended on the losing side. He comes for a quick chat. Says that it's an unfortunate loss and admits that they got outplayed. Feels that Morrisville Samp Army bowled better than them. Smiles and shares that he will spend his off time sleeping. Tells that it's a very fast-paced game and you have to be thinking on your feet. Calls it a very tedious format.
Earlier, the choice to bat first by Morrisville Samp Army started to go wrong, but Johnson Charles held one end strongly, and his alliance with David Miller revived the innings. The West Indian scored a 28-ball 58* while the South African amassed 35* off just 13 balls, and the effort of the power couple catapulted their score past the 125-run mark. Their partnership proved to be the difference in the end.
It was a tricky target in front of Deccan Gladiators but given their batting prowess, everyone thought that they will come out all guns blazing. But Sheldon Cottrell removed the dangerous Nicholas Pooran in the first over itself and then Andre Russell, who was promoted to number 3, got run out in the second over. The going was very tough for Deccan after that and although Tom Kohler-Cadmore was in the middle, the scoring rate remained slow. Eventually, the pressure got to them and the credit should go to Morrisville Samp Army for a clinical outing in the field.
A convincing win for Morrisville Samp Army and they have sealed the final spot in the playoffs! They have stopped their losing rut and also knocked out the Northern Warriors and The Chennai Braves.
