Right! That's all from this amazing tournament. During these tough times, 8 teams got together and put on a fine show for over a month. And eventually, it is Sydney Thunder who get their hands on the coveted trophy. They won the trophy in the first edition of the tournament and now after 4 seasons, they have been crowned champion again. That's all from our coverage of this tournament. We hope you enjoyed our company. For now, it is goodbye from our side. Take care and cheers!
And now Haynes gets the trophy in her hands! All her teammates join her on the podium and it is celebration time for the Thunder. They deserve all the accolades for the way they have thumped one of the best sides of the tournament in the big final.
Rachael Haynes, the Sydney Thunder skipper, says that it was an incredible effort from the team. Thanks the opposition for being a quality side throughout the tournament. Also thanks all the overseas players for visiting the country for the tournament. Adds that it was a huge effort from everyone behind the scene for making the tournament happen.
Melbourne Stars Women's skipper, Meg Lanning, says that it's been a challenging season for them. Credits Cricket Australia for putting the hard yards to conclude the amazing tournament. Ends by congratulating the Thunder for the title.
For her wonderful performance with the ball in this game, Shabnim Ismail is the PLAYER OF THE FINAL! She starts off by saying that she is happy that they have got over the line. Adds that she was slightly angry before getting on and that maybe might have helped her perform better.
Time for the final presentation of the tournament!

Rachael Haynes, the Thunder skipper, is caught for a quick chat first up. She tells that she cannot believe it and terms it as a great effort from the team. Adds that there is a lot of positive energy in the team. Feels that the bowlers did their job and the batters always wanted to score runs and things like these made her job easier.
Time for some quick reactions from the winning team members!
Earlier in the game, Stars opted to bat first but it was a sorry batting display from them. They just kept losing wickets at regular intervals. None of their batters tried to set their eyes in. They just went after the balls and kept losing wickets. The Thunder bowlers, Ismail and Jo Johnson troubled the Stars in-form openers to set the tone nicely. They got two wickets in their 4-over spells while the others who bowled got at least one wicket to their name.
You can't blame the bowlers of Stars. It looked like their batters never turned up for the final. Getting to just 86 on a big final, it just wasn't enough for the bowlers to manufacture anything. They did bowl well but it was wickets that they needed and they needed them in heaps.
Defending such a low score, Stars needed wickets in heaps. They never got that. Beaumont got out early but she did her job by reducing 16 runs off the small target. Trenaman looked in a great nick as she found the boundaries with ease. Eventually, it was a stroll in the park for the Thunder. They did lose 3 wickets but the target was never threatening.
Yes! Celebration time. Sydney Thunder Women have done it! It took a very well measured and comprehensive performance against a very tough opposition in Stars to win the coveted title but they have done it. The players of the Thunder Women squad race out onto the pitch to celebrate this triumph together. Let the party begin!
