Multan Sultans will be a bit disappointed with that result and they did get off to a bit of a flier with Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood starting off strongly. However, they lost their way in the middle overs and lost wickets at regular intervals as well. With the game done and dusted, there was a late blitz from Kieron Pollard which was a positive sign for Multan Sultans. Earlier in the game, Lahore Qalandars won the toss and opted to bat and after losing Fakhar Zaman early on, the likes of Abdullah Shafique and Sam Billings put on a crucial stand and got them on the front foot. Multan Sultans bowled decently with almost every bowler picking up a wicket but they gave away a few too many extras and conceded more runs than they should have. In the end, the bowling prowess of Lahore Qalandars proved to be a bit too much for Multan Sultans and they succumbed to their third defeat of the campaign.
Lahore Qalandars have won five games in a row for the first time in their history and become the first team to qualify for the Pakistan Super League 2023 playoffs as well after defeating Multan Sultans by 21 runs! It was a dominating display from the reigning champions as after posting a good total, they were clinical with the ball, especially in the middle overs. Rashid Khan showed his class with three wickets and was highly economical as well. Their pacers too bowled decently well and in the end, it was a pretty comfortable win.
