Earlier in the game, after being asked to bat first it was a dismal batting performance from the defending champions as they were restricted to a total of 91. The top-order failed on the big occasion but a 34-run partnership for the 6th wicket helped the side reach the total they scored. Andre Russell was the top scorer with 30 under his belt while David Wiese played a good cameo of 20. The bowling was solid from New York Strikers with Sunil Narine being unplayable for the Gladiators as he picked up a couple giving away just 6 runs from his 2 overs. George Scrimshaw also picked a couple as well while Akeal Hosein and Mohammad Amirc took a wicket each.
The bowlers always knew they weren't defending much against a powerful batting line-up. They started well but stumbled in the middle phase with Asif Ali taking the attack back to the bowlers. Trent Boult, Nuwan Thushara, and Andre Russell took a wicket each while Imad Wasim and Zahoor Khan went wicketless.
Chasing down a low total in the Final, the New York Strikers started sluggishly as they lost both openers in the first 2 overs on 7. It was then a decent partnership of 31 runs for the 3rd wicket between Niroshan Dickwella and Asif Ali that stabled the ship for a while. After the dismissal of Niroshan Dickwella, out came the skipper of New York Strikers Kieron Pollard and he took the authority to see his side home with a sensible but quickfire knock of 22 runs. Asif Ali was the pick of the batters as he scored 48 runs for the side.
The New York Strikers have defeated the defending champions and they have clinched the trophy for the 2023 edition of the Abu Dhabi T10 League. The New York Strikers have defeated Deccan Gladiators by 7 wickets.
