Right then! That is it from the coverage of the one-off T20I between India Women and New Zealand Women. The five-match ODI series between these two sides is set to kick off on Saturday, 12th February. The first ODI will begin at 3.30 am IST (10 pm GMT, previous night). Do join us then and make sure you tune in early for the buildup. Till then, goodbye and take care!
Sophie Devine, the skipper of New Zealand Women, says it is a good feeling to win the series and the ladies played really well. Mentions the way they laid the foundation for players like Tahuhu who batted really well was good and the bowlers were also excellent. Ends by saying it is now time to adapt to the 50-over format and they are looking forward for it.
Harmanpreet Kaur, the skipper of India Women, says that they were in the game when they were bowling but they conceded a lot of runs towards the end and they needed more partnerships while batting. Adds they have learnt a lot and they will look to improve. Also says playing at the same venue will help them.
Lea Tahuhu is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH. She says that she batting at number 5 was a plan. Adds she is trying to become an all-rounder but she isn't there yet. Mentions it was a good game and they are happy to get over the line.
... THE PRESENTATION ...
The Indians, needed someone to go on big. They had a few of them who got off to starts but nobody could make most of it. There was just far too much for the lower order to do and they failed to pull off a miracle.
The Kiwis did not manage to take a wicket in the Powerplay but did not let India score freely. Also, whenever the visitors looked to up the ante, the Kiwis managed to pick wickets. Regular breakthroughs just made it tough and in the end the tourists fell well short. Probably all the bowlers except for Rowe will be happy with their performances. Can’t really pick one, just have to say it has been a collective effort from the Kiwis.
A very convincing win then for the hosts and they have won the one-off T20I. After a collective effort with the bat, they managed to get past the 150-run mark and have defended it well.
