That's all we have from this lopsided contest. On Wednesday, 9th March 2022, it's going to be a big clash between West Indies Women and England Women. The first ball will be at 3.30 am IST (10 pm GMT, previous day) but you can join us in advance for the coverage. Cheers!
Meg Lanning, the winning captain of Australia Women, says that she is happy with the performance and how they adapted to spin-friendly conditions. Mentions they would love to take 10 wickets as that slows down the run rate. Shares that they like this venue and the beach is nearby, and they would love to play more cricket here. Mentions that everyone is looking in good touch and she is glad about Healy's innings. Tells that they always try to make sure that someone in the top order scores big and they are looking forward to the next match against New Zealand.
Bismah Maroof, the captain of Pakistan Women, says that they lost too many wickets early on. Feels that they had a decent total after the kind of start they had. Adds that they could have done better in the field. She counts her partnership with Aliya Riaz as a positive. On her own performance, she replies it was very important for her to perform and she wanted to make it count. Tells that they need to believe that they can win and put up a good total for the bowlers to defend.
Alyssa Healy (72) is the Player of the Match! Says that it's nice to get a win, she didn't feel particularly well out there but is happy with the win. She adds that it's the third game on this wicket and they knew exactly how it was going to play. Praises the curators who have done a great job and now they are looking forward to Wellington. About her injury, Healy replies that it's just a niggle and she is feeling fine. Mentions that she will play a bit of golf in the break and will watch the other matches on TV.
Presentation time...
An excellent outing for Australia Women. It was a nervy win for them last time but this match will offer them and their bowling group some much-needed confidence. Also, the way their batters handled the Pakistan spinners was exceptional. All in all, it's the best possible start to this campaign for the Aussies and they are comfortably placed on the table.
Two games and two thumping defeats! Pakistan Women are finding it tough against better teams at the moment. Against India Women, they at least put up a fight with the ball but in this match, they were beaten comprehensively in all the departments of the game. Apart from the knocks of Bismah Maroof and Aliya Riaz, there was nothing in their batting and their bowling, as mentioned earlier, was quite flat and inconsistent. Omaima Sohail, the part-timer, was the most impressive bowler, getting her off spinners to grip and turn as she grabbed a couple of wickets.
A stroll in the park for Australia Women! They have made a complete mockery of the target in front by overhauling it with 92 balls to spare and registered their 13th consecutive win over Pakistan Women in ODIs. It was expected to be a fierce battle between the Pakistan Women spinners and the Aussie batters but it turned out to be a damp squib. They were far too short with their lengths and got played out very easily. Rachael Haynes laid the foundation with her quickfire knock while Alyssa Healy paced her innings quite smartly. Her stands with Haynes and Meg Lanning put the chase to bed fairly early and then the remaining work was done towards the end by Ellyse Perry and Beth Mooney.
