That is all from this enticing game. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have got their first win, while Guyana Amazon Warriors are still in search of their first victory. The action continues in the Caribbean Premier League as Saint Lucia Kings will face Barbados Royals on 9th September at 4.30 am IST (11.00 pm GMT, the previous day). Do join us early for the build-up. Till then goodbye!
Dwayne Bravo the skipper of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots says that he cannot believe they won this game. Mentions that even with this win, they have to improve and they need to talk about things from a team's perspective. Adds that it was a good team effort and to restrict them to around 160 was good as well.
Shimron Hetmyer the captain of Guyana Amazon Warriors says that as players they need back themselves and says that he would not have done anything differently, sometimes things just don't go their way. Mentions that Odean Smith was an option to bowl the final over, but he went with Romario Shepherd and it did not pull off well. Further says that it's always really nice to have that many bowling options.
Duan Jansen is the Player of the Match! He says that he is feeling great as they spoke about how this is a must-win game for them. Adds that it was special to take it down to the end and pull out a win like that, it was a team performance. Mentions that the turning point was the last over and the second last over, which gave them momentum and Andre Fletcher also did well to keep them in the game.
Stay tuned for the presentation....
Earlier in the day, it was a struggle for Guyana Amazon Warriors to get going while batting but courtesy of Shimron Hetmyer's fiery knock of 46 they got to 162. They dominated most of the second innings but some bad bowling towards the end saw them remain pointless.
Before that, it was all Guyana Amazon Warriors, they kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Imran Tahir, Romario Shepherd, and Odean Smith were brilliant. Despite partnerships building, they kept their calm and kept taking wickets but gave it all away in the last two overs. Really not sure why Tabraiz Shamsi wasn’t given his full quota of overs. Can’t really blame Shimron Hetmyer as his pacers bowled well but this is a defeat that is not going to be easy to digest.
We thought the game was done when the two Bravo’s fell in succession but there was still a fight left in Duan Jansen and Dwaine Pretorius. They took the game deep, when they were batting, we were questioning their approach but they took it till the end and in the last two overs, did something magical and took their side over the line.
Unbelievable, just unbelievable! Two games in a row, Guyana Amazon Warriors have lost a game they should have won. Shimron Hetmyer is absolutely distraught. Romario Shepherd is down on his knees. Over 35 was needed in the last two overs and St Kitts and Nevis Patriots have won it with balls to spare. Credit to Dwaine Pretorius and  Duan Jansen, they have pulled a rabbit out of the hat.
