Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the game, the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots posted a mammoth total of 201 runs. Evin Lewis and Kyle Mayers starred for the Patriots with a record 199-run partnership for the second wicket. While Mayers fell short of a century by eight runs, Lewis secured his hundred. Only Noor Ahmad and Matthew Forde were economical bowlers for the St Lucia Kings while David Wiese managed to pick two wickets in the final over of the game.
The St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be upset with their bowling performance. They started well, as Kyle Mayers was the architect of this early collapse, claiming two key wickets in an over and taking a spectacular catch to dismiss Faf du Plessis on the third wicket. Anrich Nortje then compounded their woes by scalping another wicket, leaving the Saint Lucia Kings reeling at 24 for 4 in a chase that desperately required a strong start. They later failed to continue the momentum as Tim Seifert, Bhanuka Rajapaksa, and David Wiese scored the bulk of runs and handed them the defeat.
So, after a lackluster bowling performance, the Saint Lucia Kings' troubles deepened as their chase began on a disastrous note. They lost three quick wickets within the span of just seven balls, plunging them into a precarious position right from the start. Then Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Tim Seifert took control and ran a havoc. Tim Seifert departed after scoring 64 but Bhanuka Rajapaksa continued the onslaught and scored an unbeaten 68. David Wiese joined him and scored a quickfire 34 as well to get their side over the line.
What a turnaround this has been from the Saint Lucia Kings! They never looked like they had the game under their control until Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Tim Seifert showed up. St Kitts and Nevis Patriots will be upset with their performance as they lost the game from a commanding position.
