Right then, that is all we have from Eden Gardens and it is Hyderabad who have managed to get the better of the home side. On Saturday, the 15th of April, we have a double dose of action coming up. First up, it will be Bangalore going up against Delhi and that game will start at 3.30 pm IST (10 am GMT). The second game will be between Lucknow and Punjab. It will start at 7.30 pm IST (2 pm GMT). Do join us for the build-up of both games. Cheers!
Harry Brook is the Player of the Match for his fantastic century. He says it was a special night and he is thankful that they are on the winning side as it got tense in the middle. Mentions that opening the batting in T20 cricket is the best time to bat with only two fielders out and he is happy to do what the team needs. Claims that the crowd was phenomenal and he really enjoyed the atmosphere. Ends by saying that he was putting pressure on himself after the first few games and he was starting to doubt himself so wanted to go to bat with a different mindset.
Aiden Markram, the skipper of Hyderabad says that it feels good winning away from home. Tells that it was always going to be a tight game with the firepower of Kolkata and they knew the total they had was not safe. Mentions that in this venue he knew that it would be difficult to defend and credits his bowlers for showing character. States that he was fortunate that they got off to a great start and that made life easier, He also mentioned that they bat deep so there is freedom and applauds Harry for the ability he has and mentions that they wanted him to face as many balls as possible. Credits Bhuvneshwar Kumar as well and calls him Mr Reliable and mentions that there are a great bunch of guys in the team. Signs off by saying that cricket keeps teaching you lessons.
Time for the Presentation...
Bhuvneshwar Kumar is down for a quick chat. He says that they wanted to get wickets early but the way the opposition batted the 6th over got them on par but the plan was always to take wickets. Claims that he is not a big fan of bowling slower balls and variations but believes in bowling in the right places and making it difficult for the batters. Mentions that later, keeping the batters in mind he tried to execute the plans. Adds that 32 runs are not easy to get but they wanted Umran to bowl the first two balls without much advice and he did well. Tells that it is great to win away. Ends by saying that it was a top-class inning from Harry Brook and much needed as he was not among the runs and good to see him come to form as he can take on any bowling attack.
Nitish Rana, the skipper of Kolkata says that they did not bowl as per plans and to chase close to 230 is difficult. Mentions that what Rinku Singh did the other day is something that happens once in a while and can not expect that to happen every time. Explains that they wanted to take the game deep and knew that anything could be possible. He claims that you do want home conditions but that is how this pitch has played historically and they know they have the batting to post 200 runs. Ends by saying that batting was fun but two points would have given them more fun.
Time for some interviews...
Kolkata, on the other hand, will feel that they let things drift away too much with the ball. Their pacers were very expensive and that cost them in the end. With the bat, their skipper Rana played a blinder of a knock with 75 off 41 balls and Narayan Jagadeesan also played well for his 36 off 21 balls after Kolkata lost three early wickets. Then, the star of the last game for Kolkata, Rinku Singh also looked in supreme touch once again and along with his skipper kept the entertainment on. However, Rinku’s 58 off 31 balls was not enough in this game, and the Hyderabad camp rejoiced despite some anxious moments on the field.
Hyderabad were put into bat by Nitish Rana on a perfect batting deck with the hope of chasing it down later in the game. However, Hyderabad batters came out with great intent and Brook blasted a century to take Hyderabad to a mammoth total. It gave an extra cushion to their bowlers and they started well with the ball as well reducing Kolkata to 20-3 in the fourth over. Marco Jansen with his two wickets and Bhuvneshwar with his swing were pretty good at the start, but the spell of Mayank Markande and his two big wickets derailed Kolkata when they were looking to take charge. Rana and Rinku Singh did keep them in the chase with some clean hitting but they were always behind the 8-ball. In the end, the Hyderabad bowlers kept their cool to register an important away win.
Hyderabad have notched up an impressive win here at Eden Gardens! It is their second win in a row and they are now starting to gell as a unit after a disappointing start to their campaign. Kolkata, on the other hand, entertained the crowd yet again but could not finish on the right side of the result this time around.

This is bowled short and outside the off stump. Umesh Yadav taps this towards point and takes one to get Rinku Singh on strike but this should now be a win for Hyderabad.
In this IPL, that drop by Glenn Phillips was the 11th by SRH, the most by a team-Their catching efficiency of 57.7% is also the worst.
Umesh Yadav walks out to bat now.
