That is it for the game! The momentum of the game shifted from one corner to another, and in the end, the Chattogram Challengers finished off things in style. The Bangladesh Premier League 2024 action continues as we have a double-header on Saturday, the 20th of January. It will be Fortune Barishal versus Rangpur Riders at 1 pm IST (7.30 am GMT) and Chattogram Challengers versus Khulna Tigers at 6 pm IST (12.30 pm GMT). Do join us for the early build-up as well. Until then, take care, and cheers!
Najibullah Zadran is the player of the match for his knock of 61 runs. He says that he just came from India. He says that he kept it simple, and that is what helped him. He adds that they always kept the run rate in mind, and Shahadat Hossain was excellent. Ends by saying that they will look to carry on with the momentum.
Mashrafe Mortaza, the skipper of the Sylhet Strikers, says that they lacked in fielding as well as bowling. He continues that 171 is a good score, but the bowlers in the middle overs failed to make it economical, and they also missed three catches, and that is where they lost the match. He reckons that the spinners couldn't perform because of the dew, but the pacers failed to execute the plan.
Presentations coming up...
Earlier in the match, the Sylhet Strikers were sent to bat first after losing the toss. Mohammad Mithun and Najmul Hossain Shanto performed well, with Mithun scoring 40 runs and Shanto scoring 36 runs. Zakir Hasan then played a standout inning, scoring 70 runs off 43 balls. Harry Tector also contributed, with a short cameo in the end. The two had a partnership of 82 runs in the last 8 overs. Chattogram Challengers were not economical, and they leaked wickets and failed to pick timely wickets.
The Sylhet Sunrisers bowlers started off well but failed to break the gritty 4th wicket stand. Yes, the wicket was always in favor of the batters, but they would have loved to make the Chattanooga Challengers batters work harder for their runs. Also, the dropped catches were the major reason for their loss! Mashrafe Mortaza, Nazmul Islam, and Richard Ngarava picked a wicket each, and that was it. The rest of the bowlers were wicketless. They used a total of seven bowlers throughout the inning.
What a comeback it was from the Chattogram Challengers! Let me remind you that they are 71/3 at the halfway stage. Shahadat Hossain and Najibullah Zadran geared up then and finished off things in style. They stitched a partnership of 121 runs of just 72 deliveries. They lost Tanzid Hasan early on. Avishka Fernando played well but fell in the 7th over, and Imran Uzzaman soon followed suit. The duo of Hossain and Zadran took charge and made sure the job was done. Both went on to score a half-century and finished off things in style!
