Presentation coming up ...
Earlier in the day after opting to bat first, Perth Scorchers struggled a lot at the start and were 47/4 at the halfway stage. Their skipper stood firm and kept the scoreboard ticking for them. The non-strikers kept on losing wickets. After his dismissal, Matthew Kelly and Andrew Tye played good cameos making their team reach a total of 142. They scored 95 in the last 10 overs and gave their bowlers something to fight for.
Perth Scorchers struggled with the ball after the two early wickets from Jhye Richardson. They just couldn't break the Gilkes-Davies partnership and that is what cost them the game. They did manage to get both but the damage was already done and it was difficult to claw their way up from there. Matthew Kelly and Jason Behrendorff managed to bag one wicket each whilst Peter Hatzoglou and Andrew Tye were wicketless.
A good display of batting from Sydney Thunder after losing two back-to-back early wickets. Matthew Gilkes and Oliver Davies steadied the sinking ship for them after that. They looked comfortable and stitched a 67-run gritty stand for their team. They were 75 runs for the loss of 2 wickets at the halfway stage. Matthew Gilkes was dismissed soon in the 11th over but Oliver Davies carried on with his flurry of runs alongside Alex Ross and scored a half-century. He was dismissed in the 15th over but the damage was already done and Alex Ross ended it for them alongside Ben Cutting.
