All credit to the way Guyana Amazon Warriors bowled. Romario Shepherd and Dwaine Pretorius who took 4 wickets, started well and then the spinners, Gudakesh Motie and Imran Tahir kept the pressure on. Chasing below 100, Guyana Amazon Warriors needed to keep things calm while Trinbago Knight Riders looked for wickets. Keemo Paul fell but the stand of Saim Ayub and Shai Hope did the job. Not a high-scoring final but it was more of who showed more experience.
The most experienced side of CPL, Trinbago Knight Riders were beaten comprehensively. Who would have thought? One would have thought that the experience would help them but it was the other way around. The captaincy of Imran Tahir blended with some youngsters have done it for the Warriors. Imran Tahir opted to bowl and it turned out well in his favour. They ripped apart this Trinbago Knight Riders side. No one apart from Keacy Carty showed his presence in the final. Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, you name it all, but they failed to make an impact when it mattered the most.
The 10 year drought is finally over as Guyana Amazon Warriors are the champions of Caribbean Premier League, 2023. The best team of this season. They have reached this stage five times before but have failed every time to get over the victory line. However, the wait is over. They have finally done it. An emotional Imran Tahir is seen.
