Right then, that's all from this game. Trinbago Knight Riders have yet again failed to play as a unit. That is two losses on the trot for them now. Jamaica Tallawahs on the other hand will be pleased to get back to winning ways. The action continues in Caribbean Premier League on the 11th of September (Sunday) at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, the previous day) as Saint Lucia Kings take on Guyana Amazon Warriors. Do join us earlier for the build-up as well. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Kieron Pollard the skipper of Trinbago Knight Riders says that in the last couple of games they haven't batted well and some conversations need to happen. Adds that the wicket was helpful for the bowlers but they conceded 20-25 runs extra due to poor execution of plans in the first innings. Mentions that it is disappointing to lose any cricket game and they need to improve in the next game. Ends by saying it is disappointing to lose back-to-back games and hopes the home crowd will help them in their next few games.
Rovman Powell the captain of Jamaica Tallawahs says that the players played well. Claims that they talked about how they haven't beaten Trinbago Knight Riders for a long time so it was a good win here. Adds that the way they played in the Powerplay is not a concern as the wicket in the morning was sticky. Shares that Sunil Narine is always tricky to face and Kieron Pollard always chirping into his ears made him mentally strong.
Imad Wasim is the Player of the Match for his 21 runs of 12 balls and bowling figures of 4-1-20-2. He says that it was a good wicket to bowl on and praises their batters for getting past 150. Adds that while they were batting the surface was a bit sticky and their plan was to go past 140. Mentions that in the last game that they played, they suffered a bitter defeat and credits the opponents for how they played in that game. Ends by saying he is happy to get the win here.
Time for the presentations...
In the first half of the game, Trinbago Knight Riders had their opponents on the ropes right away but a counter-attacking inning from Rovman Powell and a flourish by Imad Wasim at the end took them beyond the 150-run mark. Ravi Rampaul wreaked havoc in the start ending with three wickets and Sunil Narine was outstanding with the ball but is definitely a far better bowler than a batter. He began the collapse in the run chase and at no point did it look like they could achieve the target.
Jamaica Tallawahs got off the perfect start as Mohammad Amir shattered the stumps to send Sunil Narine off. Imad Wasim bowled well in the Powerplay to build pressure which resulted in a run-out. Joshua James dismissed Colin Munro just before the halfway stage and Chris Green who was really expensive initially, got Tim Seifert stumped. The wickets kept tumbling and soon they were right on top of the game. The Pakistani duo of Mohammad Amir and Imad Wasim were the pick of the bowlers taking two wickets each. Migael Pretorius bowled economically as well and was rewarded with a wicket. This has been a complete bowling performance and Rovman Powell will be thrilled with his team.
Trinbago Knight Riders got off to a poor start too as they lost Sunil Narine to a poor shot and his opening partner Tion Webster to a silly run-out. Colin Munro got off to a good start as he kept the scoreboard ticking but was dismissed for 29. Nicholas Pooran came out with intent and was unwilling to get bogged down but could not convert his start. Andre Russell looked like he was in the mood but that too proved to be a false start. Eventually, they were far too behind in the game and kept losing wickets at regular intervals to fall well short of the target.
Jamaica Tallawahs have pulled off an absolutely stunning win over their much-fancied opponents! After eight consecutive losses to Trinbago Knight Riders, they have finally sealed a comprehensive win as they have taken this game by 34 runs. Trinbago Knight Riders have all the batting strength on paper but if they do not perform it is all for naught. They will have to look deeply into their performance as this is the second game in a row that the batting has collapsed.
