Right then, that is all we have from this game. It turned out to be quite an engrossing encounter and next up we have St Kitts and Nevis Patriots going up against Barbados Royals. That game will be played on 2nd September at 4.30 am IST (11 pm GMT, the previous day). Our build-up though as you know, will begin in advance. So do join us for the same. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Roston Chase, the skipper of Saint Lucia Kings says tha they did not do well with the bat and were 20-25 runs short. Tells that guys like Faf du Plessis, Tim David, David Wiese are the best players in the world and it will be great to have them back soon.
Kieron Pollard, the skipper of Trinbago Knight Riders says that they will take the two points and they would have loved to finish it earlier but says that these can happen sometime. Talks about the workload management of the players and adds that it should have been managed before and says that franchise has invested a lot in players. Mentions that they have to manage these international players but says that the main goal is to win the title.
Akeal Hosein is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant spell with the ball. He says the injury is too early to speak about and he needs to get it assessed. Mentions he doesn’t mind when he has to bowl, he is pretty confident to do so whenever needed. Adds that the wicket was a bit slow. Ends by saying he was ready to bat if needed.
Time for the Presentation...
Earlier in the game, Trinbago Knight Riders bowlers dominated the proceedings with Akeal Hosein taking four wickets including three in one over. Saint Lucia Kings batters, on the other hand, were unable to find any momentum but some useful contributions from Deyal and Roshon Primus at the backend gave them something to bowl at. However, they were still 20 runs short and that meant that Knight Riders batters could take their time in the middle and despite few hiccups during the chase, ended on a winning side.
Knight Riders will be pretty happy with the way they went about this chase after losing two early wickets. Especially the way the youngster Webster showed composure and skills after losing wickets of Narine and Pooran early will be quite pleasing. He scored 58 useful runs and by the time he departed, he had taken his team to a comfortable position. Tim Seifert at the other end also played well while Pollard also had a decent outing in the middle. They would have loved to be bit clinical in the end but it can happen in this format of the game and they would be happy to start their campaign on a winning note.
Saint Lucia Kings did start brightly with the ball, they took big wickets in the Powerplay but could not build on from there. They failed to break the third wicket partnership that took the game away from them by adding 81 runs. They got the wicket finally in the 13th over as Kesrick Williams got rid of Tion Webster and Alzarri Joseph then got the big wicket of Russell in the very next over. However, Knight Riders needed around run-a-ball at that time and it was always going to tough for Saint Lucia Kings to get back into this game. Joseph again created a slight hope when he got three wickets in the 19th over but it was all too late. The bowling group though should be prasied for fighting it out till the last over.
Trinbago Knight Riders have clinched their first game of the season. However, it got a bit uncomfortable in the end but they still were in a good position and managed to cross the line. Saint Lucia Kings tried hard with the ball but it was always going to be tough to defend 143 against this batting line-up and they need to come out with better plans and execution in the next game, especially with the bat.

OUT! TIMBER! Too quick for Seekkuge Prasanna and Alzarri Joseph has another one. His 4th and Trinbago Knight Riders are 7 down. This is full and fast on middle, Seekkuge Prasanna fails to get the bat down in time as he tries to flick. He misses and the stumps are shattered.

OUT! WHAT A CATCH THAT IS! Absolutely brilliant! Wow! Take a bow Mark Deyal! This is fuller and on middle, Pollard powers it flat and down the ground towards long on. Mark Deyal runs to his left, leaps and takes it brilliantly above his head. He also keeps his balance and does not step on the rope. Outstanding. Anderson Phillip is the next batter in.
