Right then, that's it from this game of the Legends League Cricket with Toyam Hyderabad winning the first game of the Jammu leg The action continues from the LLC 2024 with India Capitals taking on the Konark Suryas Odisha on 4th October 2024 at 3 pm IST (9.30 am GMT). Until next time, Take care and have a nice time ahead.
The victorious skipper of Manipal Tigers, Harbhajan Singh explained that for the super over, they opted for Asela Gunaratne because they wanted someone who could turn the ball both ways, making it an easy decision. He acknowledged that in this format, any bowler can be put under pressure. Reflecting on the game, he shared that everything happens for a reason and admitted they had to work harder for the win. He also highlighted the quality of players in the squad and expressed confidence that this unit has the potential to reach new heights.
Thisara Perera is the Legend of the match and he says that he was just looking to play his normal game as the situation demanded that. Mentions that it was easy to hit the pacers and that's why he targeted them. Says that the pitchh was assisting the bowlers and apart from that final over they did well with the ball as well.
The losing skipper of Toyam Hyderabad, Gurkeerat Singh Mann shared that it was challenging to take on the spinners throughout the innings. He mentioned that the team felt they had a chance when the pacer came on for the final over, but they came up just short. Reflecting on the last ball, he admitted he was a bit too far off for the final run, but expressed confidence, knowing they have two more games at the same venue, which will help them plan better moving forward.
Time for the presentation ...
Earlier in the day batting first, Manipal Tigers managed to post a total of 144 runs on the board. The side was struggling to cope with the pace of the track at Jammu and was brought down to 82 for 6. Thisara and Dan Christian knitted a partnership of 30 in 17 balls but that too couldn't help the side to post a significant total. Thisara was the only one who went past his 20s. The bowling from the Toyam bowlers was superb. They stuck to their plans and bowled to their field. Mann and Bipul took a couple each. Isuru and Nuwan took one apiece as well.
In the Super Over, it was simply a sensational bit of bowling from Asela as he managed to give away just 4 runs and took Binny's wicket in the process as well. With just 5 needed to win off 6 balls for Manipal Tigers. Thisara and Dan Christian walked out and chased that down with ease.
Chasing down an in-between total, the Toyam inning got off to a horrific start. The side couldn't strike big and kept losing wickets as well. The side was down to 33 for 3 after 6 overs but a brilliant partnership between GSM and Marsh kept Toyam in the game. The side lost the track during the later stages of the chase again but a sensational bit of hitting from Binny and GSM in the final over of the game saw the side tied on score after 20 overs each.
What a game of cricket we have had here to kick-start the Jammu leg. A Super Over to decide the course of the game. It is Manipal Tigers that has won this in the Super Over. This is also the first victory for them in this season.

SIX! It all comes down to a massive hit from Dan Christian, and the Aussie finishes it off in style with a biggie. Tossed up on off, Dan Christian clears his front leg and slogs this up and over the bowler towards the sight screen for six runs to win this.

That just stuck in the pitch, onto TP. The Sri Lankan ends up toe poking it over the bowler for a quick single towards mid on.

Full and wide outside the hitting arc of Thisara Perera. The left-hander drags this and sweeps this towards deep square and runs a couple. Just 3 needed now off the last 5 balls.
What an over from Asela Gunaratne. He kept things under control throughout. Manipal Tigers just a biggie away from victory. They can finish it in one ball if needed. If Super Over is a tie, the match will be decided by a flip of the coin. Anyways, we are back for Manipal Tigers' reply. It is Thisara Perera and Dan Christian who walk out with the bat. Bipul Sharma gets the ball in hand.
