After defeating Australia by 44 runs in the second T20 international in Thiruvananthapuram, Suryakumar Yadav’s team India now faces the Kangaroos in the third game at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on November 28. The Men in Blue have a 2-0 lead in the series courtesy of their victory in the opening fixture in Visakhapatnam.
Talking about the second T20I, the home side batted first and posted a mammoth total of 235/4 on the board in their allotted 20 overs. The top three players all registered their respective half-centuries while pocket dynamo Rinku Singh provided the late flourish as he slammed an unbeaten 31 off just nine. Seamer Sean Abbott had a forgettable outing as he leaked 56 runs for no wickets in his three overs.
Chasing 236, Australia’s lower order contributed as Marcus Stoinis and Tim David struck 45 and 37 runs respectively while captain Matthew Wade made an unbeaten 42 off 23. But the target proved way too much as they managed to reach only 191/9. The visitors will look to bounce back and claim a victory that also keeps them alive in the five-match series.
